Machine in a Box

This building’s purpose is to solely houses Nissan’s 5-axis milling machine. In concert with this exacting function, LUCE created an inspiration ‘beacon’ on the automaker’s design campus. Maximizing the simplicity of a pre-engi­neered metal building system for the structure, dividing the façade into thirds, incorporating glass and a central band of perforated metal screen, the simple cube becomes a light-and-shadow sculptural solution. The building, now a campus icon, represents a artfully sculptural, time-efficient, cost effective and functional architecture; the cornerstones of great automotive design.
