LUCE is deeply respectful of the mid-century roots of the Southern California ethos; aware of that moment in time that changed the landscape of local culture forever. The studio has renovated and restored numerous building of the mid-century era, Palm Desert House being one of the simplest yet meaningful commissions. Designed from the inside outward, LUCE fashioned a creative life/work space for a talented LA based art photographer (formerly a footwear executive) who was honing her eye and her skills in the desert landscape. Smaller rooms were opened outward, relationships to the landscape were strengthened and a sense of contemporary life is evident in fashioning a way of life for this energetic and brave client.
